Câu so sánh (Comparisons): Kiến thức ngắn gọn cùng bài tập củng cố giúp nhớ lâu

Câu so sánh trong tiếng Anh dùng để đặt 2 (hoặc nhiều) thứ cạnh nhau để người nghe/đọc hiểu nhanh mức độ, khác biệt, và ưu tiên.

Ví dụ:

  • This issue is more serious than we expected. → Vấn đề này nghiêm trọng hơn chúng tôi tưởng.
  • This version is clearer than the previous draft. → Bản này rõ hơn bản trước.
  • Fixing tracking is more urgent than scaling the budget. → Sửa việc theo dõi cần ưu tiên hơn tăng ngân sách.

Cấu trúc câu so sánh của tính từ

Câu so sánh hơn của tính từ

 Dùng khi muốn diễn tả một đối tượng “hơn” một đối tượng khác. Có thể là mạnh hơn, nhanh hơn, đẹp hơn, cao hơn…Nói cách khác: A → “hơn” → B. 

Ví dụ:

    • This phone is cheaper than that one.→ Điện thoại này rẻ hơn cái kia.
    • I’m much fitter than I was last year. → Bây giờ tôi khỏe hơn so với năm ngoái.

Câu so sánh nhất của tính từ

 Dùng để so sánh một đối tượng (người hoặc vật) nổi bật nhất trong nhóm. 

Ví dụ:

    • She is the tallest student in the class. → Cô ấy là học sinh cao nhất trong lớp.

Cấu tạo Câu so sánh của tính từ

LOẠI TÍNH TỪ SO SÁNH HƠN (Comparative) SO SÁNH NHẤT (Superlative)
1. Một âm tiết Adj/Adv + “-er” + than

Ví dụ: small → smaller

 the + adj + -est

Ví dụ: small → the smallest
2. Kết thúc bằng -e Adj/Adv + “-r” + than

Ví dụ: large → larger

 the + adj + -st

Ví dụ: large → the largest
3. Kết thúc bằng “Nguyên âm + phụ âm” Adj/Adv – gấp đôi phụ âm cuối + “-er” + than

Ví dụ: big → bigger

 Gấp đôi phụ âm cuối + -est

Ví dụ: big → the biggest
4. Tính từ 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng -y Adj/Adv có đuôi “-y” → “-ier” + than

Ví dụ: busy → busier

 -y → -iest

Ví dụ: busy → the busiest
5. Tính từ ≥ 2 âm tiết “more” + Adj/Adv + than

Ví dụ: important → more important

 the most + adj

Ví dụ: important → the most important
6. Bất quy tắc Học thuộc lòng Adj/Adv + than

Ví dụ: little → less, much → more

 Học thuộc lòng

Ví dụ: little → the least, much → the most

Có thể bổ nghĩa thêm cho so sánh nhất bằng các cấu trúc sau:

  1. one of the + superlative + plural noun

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam.

  1. ordinal numbers (first, second, third…)

He finished the second fastest in the race.

  1. Possessive + superlative

She is my closest friend.

Cấu trúc câu so sánh của trạng từ

Tương tự tính từ, trạng từ cũng có dạng so sánh hơn (comparative) và dạng so sánh nhất (superlative). Tuy nhiên, cách hình thành của chúng không hoàn toàn giống nhau:

  • Kém hơn: less + adj/adv
  • Kém nhất: the least + adj/adv
